Overview
This project involved designing and implementing a complete IoT sensor network for industrial monitoring. The system handles data acquisition from multiple sensor nodes, wireless transmission over LoRaWAN, and cloud delivery via LTE telemetry.
Hardware
Custom PCB designed in Altium Designer with STM32 microcontroller at its core. RF layout carefully optimized for LoRaWAN antenna performance. Multi-layer stackup selected to balance cost and signal integrity for the target environment.
Firmware
Firmware written in C on FreeRTOS. Task architecture separates sensor acquisition, protocol handling, and power management. Sleep mode strategy tuned to maximize battery life between transmission windows.
Connectivity
LoRaWAN for low-power wide-area data transmission to a local gateway. LTE modem stack for telemetry backhaul to AWS IoT Core. MQTT used for device-to-cloud messaging.
Results
System deployed and operating in the field. Power budget met target requirements. RF performance validated with range and link budget testing across the deployment environment.
